Biography
Zeba A. Syed, MD is a fellowship-trained ophthalmologist who specializes in cornea, cataract, and refractive surgery. She serves as an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University and is the Director of the Cornea Fellowship at Wills Eye Hospital.
After graduating summa cum laude from Harvard College, Dr. Syed went on to graduate from Harvard Medical School. She completed her ophthalmology residency at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston, MA. After residency, Dr. Syed completed a fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, FL
Dr. Syed is the author of numerous book chapters and over 70 articles in the peer-reviewed literature. She has served on several committees for the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO), Cornea Society, American Society of Ocular Trauma (ASOT), Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA), and American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS). Among her many awards, Dr. Syed has been honored as a Heed Foundation Fellow, selected for the AAO Leadership Development Program, and has been featured as “One to Watch” by Millennial Eye as well as “40 Under 40” by Ophthalmology Management.
