In Memoriam – Hon. Ronald R. Donatucci, Esq.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our longtime friend, supporter, advisor, and President of the Board of Directors of City Trusts, the governing body of Wills Eye Hospital, a trust of the City of Philadelphia, the Honorable Ronald R. Donatucci, Esq.

Ron passed away the morning of Wednesday, November 4th at home. He was 72 years old.

More than 30 years ago, Ron began his loving commitment and tireless dedication to Wills Eye Hospital. As Chairman of the Wills Eye Committee, he never stopped being a proud promoter and champion of all aspects of Wills Eye, and also of Philadelphia itself—the city he loved so much.

“Ron was an incredible person; like a brother to me and my family and a true part of the Wills family. He will be dearly missed but will live on through our important service to patients and in our kindness, compassion and humanity every day. We are richer for having known him,” said Joseph P. Bilson, Chief Executive Officer, Wills Eye Hospital and Executive Director, Board of Directors of City Trusts.

“Ron was our North Star. Smart, a student of human nature, funny, caring and our greatest advocate and cheerleader. I can hear him now saying ‘Our boundaries are limitless’ and dubbing us the 'A' Team. Our hearts are broken and our deepest sympathies go out to his dear wife Stephanie, his son Ronald Jr, his daughter Ava and their entire extended family,” said Julia A. Haller, MD, Ophthalmologist-in-Chief, Wills Eye Hospital.
