We rely heavily on technology through our phones, tablets, computers, and various other devices, all of which provide data that tracks every aspect of our lives. Harnessing the ever-growing volume of data in a meaningful way from large clinical databases, imaging, and other clinical technology is a frontier for research in health care and ophthalmology in particular. With our selection as one of the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s Data Analytics Teams for the AAO IRIS® Registry, we launched our Ophthalmology Informatics program.
IRIS® REGISTRY
Wills Eye Hospital is one of just four academic institutions in the United States selected to have full access to American Academy of Ophthalmology’s IRIS® (Intelligent Research in Sight) Registry. The IRIS® Registry is the largest medical specialty registry and contains records of more than 70 million patients from over 17,000 eye care practices across the country.
