Vickie and Jack Farber Vision Research Center
CALENDAR OF RESEARCH EVENTS
Guest Lecture Series
The Vickie and Jack Farber Vision Research Center Guest Lecture Series provides a setting for ophthalmologists and vision researchers to learn about innovative research in relevant cross-cutting areas of ophthalmology and vision science. Invited guest speakers are leaders in the field of vision research and serve as role models for our junior faculty and trainees in the possibilities of having a successful career as a clinician scientist.
Visiting lecturers also meet with our junior faculty and trainees the evening prior to their lecture to have an informal discussion about their personal research journey: the reasons they chose a career in research, how they developed early research projects and collaborations, their successes, challenges and motivations for continuing to pursue research questions.
Scholar in Residence Program
The Scholar in Residence Program is an innovative partnership between the Vision Research Center and a Wills Eye Clinical Service. The Scholar in Residence presents a keynote lecture on their research, discusses their career journey, and leads workshops on research-related topics. Clinician scientists, particularly former Wills trainees, who have chosen research career paths, are invited for this joint program to serve as role models for our trainees and faculty.
Wills Eye Faculty Research Seminar Series
The Wills Eye Faculty Research Seminar Series is held quarterly for Wills faculty with a strong interest in research. This series was established to create a forum for Wills faculty to present their research, provide opportunities for cross- fertilization of ideas, and explore potential for new collaborations.
